The investigation

A death inside a system built to protect the public

When environmental campaigner Carolina Esteban is found dead inside Mogden Sewage Treatment Works, Detective Inspector Kath Adrian inherits an investigation in which private relationships, public office and corporate assurance have become dangerously entangled.

Kiwi and Luc De Peyrac return as the case moves across Hounslow, Isleworth and Brentford. Records exist in separate places. Responsibilities sit with different institutions. Each system can explain its own fragment, but none can see the whole chain.

The investigation asks what happens when warnings, evidence and accountability are divided so completely that everybody can claim to have done their part.
